Nested ink collars round vortex

Back

Description: Experiment to show some of the more unusual geometry in a vortex. Standard bath tub vortex, with ink injected. Most experiments use particles, particles do not show this geometry. I have searched all over for film or experiments showing this experiment using ink or dye but have not seen it anywhere else so I have done it myself. There are many nested cylinders round the central vortex. As the ink begins to fill the outer edge several typical shapes are revealed. I will describe the different geometries over the next few weeks. When the exit nozzle is correct the water will describe an elongated seed shape, tending toward the inverse of the hyperbolic cone, in its pure form an egg. The hyperbola here is a plain at infinity going to a point at infinity. From above it looks like a point in a circle. The vortex is the same as the double torus. The torus embodies the continual movement of Ying and Yang and that is creation in motion. The most efficient way to move a fluid is not a straight line; it is a Cycloidal space curve. Victor called it three motions spin, orbit and circulation. from John Byde OBEWANKANOBI= O B 1 can O B I ?
