Years ago I thought the same thing. Piano's not an expressive instrument, it's all been done. That was back when I was doin virtuoso shit. Now I'm a real musician, leaps and bounds better than back then, and I have to say, the steinway grand piano is my favorite sound... Listen to bill evans play the piano, and then tell me that you can play that way. I will give you a thousand dollars, seriously :)

Also, if you believe piano is built mainly on intricate and complex structures, listen to minimalist Ludovico Einaudi's "Il Giorni" or "Passaggio."

Expression can be fulfilled by any instrument. It is up to the artist, not the instrument, how that feeling is achieved and projected. Take this quote by Schumann: "People compose for many reasons: to become immortal; because the pianoforte happens to be open; because they want to become a millionaire; because of the praise of friends; because they have looked into a pair of beautiful eyes; for no reason whatsoever."

I wouldn't say that neither instrument doesn't have its difficulties. Each instrument has its differences. Like an oboe player telling a violinist that it's hard because he breathes, while the violinist can say it's harder fingerwise. While it's not hard to play a note by simply pressing it, you have to account for chords and stretching your hands. (I play piano and fear Carpal Tunnel at the moment. The piece I've been playing has me stretching to a 10th interval many, many times.)

Piano is more about structure, guitar is more about expression. There's just a whole lot more expressive stuff u can do with a guitar that piano isn't made for. Piano is better for certain things no doubt, but for the most part it is played by people who want to understand the structure of music more than the meaning

well if anyone ever says that to you tell them there more frets on a guitar then keys on a piano. on average 120 fret-able notes and thousands of chords

there is no such thing as being good at something your first try you can be decent but to be good you must figure out how to do it right and perfect
