Good catch, David. Yes, there is a shop vacuum attached that comes on when the bandsaw is fired up. Dave

is there a shop vac hooked up the the bandsaw switch? I think I hear a vacuum starting up when you turn it on in addition to the usually quieter saw motor.

it is also possible to taper cut on the joiner. set the infeed table the depth of taper wanted. Place escape cut end on outfeed table, at blade entry height to flush with where the taper would end at flush cut.
place pc on table use a hellacious holdown pushblock, turn on machine and push. It will cut taper for you. works on pencilpost beds,too. 45 the fence for the octagon cut...
