villaessaouira- As far as Sunday goes, this is the day that Christians in the New Testament believed Christ was raised from the dead. A parallel w/ paganism regarding this day does not prove dependence on paganism. *A PARALLEL does not prove DEPENDENCE.* Peace-

Greetings, villaessaouira- Are you from Australia? I have family down there. I don't dispute certain types of Christian dependence on Paganism such as the date of Christmas. BUT, it's important to note that this celebration was not a part of New Testament Christianity but came hundreds of years later under Constantine, so it's irrelevant to my point. It's anachronistic to say that this influenced New Testament Christianity. Does that make sense? I hope so.

villaessaouira- From about 1890 to 1940 scholars often claimed that Christianity had been influenced by Platonism, Stoicism & greek mystery religions. The Religionsgeschichtliche shcule in Germany about a hundred years ago did a lot of work trying to relate the pagan gods to Jesus. Most Bible scholars today however, consider it a dead issue. Popularizers like Freke, Gandy & Harpur do their best to keep the propaganda alive & many lay people fall for it. It's sad, really.

The issues they are pontificating have already been considered & were eventually dismissed in the community of New Testament scholars decades ago. What they are saying is nothing new.

a god dwells within depending on who you worship if you belive in jesus the the creator dwells in you as well as His kingdom but if you do not then the god of this world who is given authority by thee God to rule those who dont have a love for real truth. they it is that god that dwells in you.
