That is not entirely accurate. PVA is the cheapest adhesive paint companies can use in paint. Acrylic resins are stickier but typically more expensive.

The best primer to ask for is a pva product. pva stands for poly vinyl acitate.

You should use the special primer/sealer I talk about in my past columns. Visit my website and use the search engine to discover Drywall Primers.

One bucket of primer said it recomended NOT using a tint as this would meke the primer a bit less effective. I applied primer sealer to new shetrock on the ceiling -the sheetrock has a thin coat of diluted joint compund What do you think about doing this? Also when I primed since I had no tint I coul dnot tell really well where the primer was thin. Should I go second coat of primer before actually painitng? Thanks

Big mistake. It will take you 30 minutes to cut out the drywall 3 feet off the tub or shower area. Install cement board or equivalent.

If I want to tile over gyprock in the shower area, (quick fix temporary), what do I do before adding the mortar to the gyprock? Do I put primer like the video?

As always you save me lots of trouble! Incidentally, adding water to mud makes the finish incredible. I feel stupid for not figuring that out before. Thanks!

Simple. Spot prime the area that is standing out. It is okay to get the primer over on the rest of the ceiling. Then repaint the ceiling.

I just painted my kitchen and had to drywall a spot and forgot the primer -- boy does it stand out. Any advice on this?

bad painters will ruin a good finnishers reputation.Your exactly right.People dont paint a car without priming it for the same reason. If your painting with flat latex it is not as important but semi gloss has got to be primed very well or you will see every screw and every joint no matter how slick it is,great explanation ask the builder.

I have been racking my brain on how you go from taping and floating to painting the finished color. This video just saved me a headache. Thank you so much

Jeff,
Indeed that method will work. The only problem I have seen is when a finisher uses too much water and erodes the finishing compound.
