Foam is doable. Just make sure you use the right one for doors and windows!

Why not foam on the inside? Looks easier, as it's hard to avoid at least some packing of the fibreglass. In my opinion fibreglass and rockwool is best used in large slabs.

Fiberglass works well as an insulator when it is fluffed up and has lots of air in it. If you compress it, you remove the air thus making it more solid. Then it acts as a conductor, much like a piece of glass.
